In a recent study conducted by FreeAgent, looking at the work habits of micro business owners and freelancers, it was found that they are creating a new phenomenon called workation. A workation is essentially working whilst being on holiday. This is not the ideal situation, checking work emails and doing admin whilst on holiday. The self-employed are workaholics and seriously need to find the balance between work and life. Holidays are a time to get away, switch off and rejuvenate, constantly working achieves the opposite of that.
There are millions of apps, varying in purpose and function, whether they are for entertainment or to keep your business organised. When you’re a small business owner you will need to wear multiple hats, and therefore need to make sure to take advantage of all the resources available to you. The best thing about some apps is that they are free or give the option of a free trial, therefore they can give you the opportunity to try before you buy.
The self-employment sector grows continuously in the UK. More and more people are taking the plunge of becoming their own boss and it’s not an easy decision to make. To leave the security of being an employee, which provides regular work and pay checks, it can be daunting. Being your own boss and running a business can be glamorised, but in reality it can be quite difficult.
